Late last week, the French president officially inaugurated the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, wrapped according to Christo’s plans, paying tribute to the artist who died in 2020 and his wife Jeanne-Claude.

Christo and Jeanne-Claude had the idea of ​​”wrapping” the monument in the early 1960s. However, it was not until 2017 that Christo began to take concrete steps to implement this project.
The Triumphal Arch was wrapped with a silver-blue polypropylene fabric with an area of ​​25 thousand square meters. m2, fastened by a red cord with a length of 3 thousand. meters.

The cost of the project amounted to EUR 14 million, and was financed by the sale of studios, drawings and Christo models that were used to implement the project.
