“The poetics of Mirosława Smerek-Bielecka’s paintings inspire memories. In earlier periods of her work she captured” a lot in a simple form, closing her “stories” in trunks, suitcases, handbags. Her paintings include cycles of Suitcases, Handbags, Folders. In the newer paintings she presents genre and figural scenes in a simplified landscape. In her painting she refers to the layers of human memory, imagination and deeply rooted archetypes.”

A graduate of Fine Arts UMK in Toruń. She received her diploma in 1979. She lives and works in Olsztyn. Repeatedly represented the Olsztyn community at national and international exhibitions, among others she took part in the Autumn Salon in Paris in 2001. Scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and Art in 1984 and the Olsztyn City Council. She has a badge of a Distinguished activist of the Culture of Warmia and Mazury and the Silver Cross of Merit received in 2009. In 2014, she received the award of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage – Distinguished for Polish Culture.

Author of over 40 individual and several dozen group exhibitions. She also organized workshops, open air and artistic camps in the country and abroad. The works are in museum collections, the Museum of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, the Office of Art Exhibitions in Olsztyn, the Ministry of Culture and Art in Warsaw, the Royal Theater in Plymouth in England, the City Hall in Olsztyn, the City Hall of Gelsenkirchen, -Germany, the City Hall of Dębno, Gorzów Wlkp. And in the Vatican collections.
