Mirek Antoniewicz – a well-known and recognized artist, painter, graphic artist, born in 1954 in Wrocław, where he graduated, and now lives and works, dealing mainly with easel painting. Member of the Association of Polish Visual Artists.

 

“My painting is my own way of explaining and making the surrounding reality more close and understandable. At the same time, it is a means of influence, it provides control over my view of the world, helps to organize and understand it, and makes it more human. “Mirek doesn’t paint what he doesn’t know. He paints well-known thing and is able to introduce his own prism optics between the viewer and the presented subject. We see things we didn’t see before. We notice elements that have been marginalized so far.” – Piotr Raszewski

He is known for his series of works “My Place”, the inspiration for which was a photograph of the Author taken in 1959 at the Wrocław Market Square.

The artist has had over 60 individual and several dozen collective exhibitions, both in Poland and abroad: Italy, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Greece, Great Britain, Turkey, China, the United States…..He is also the winner of many awards and distinctions – European Masters of Modern Art /Burgau, Austria/, International Art Biennale of Vila Nova de Cerveira /Portugal/, Prize Contemporarty Art, Foundacion Exteril /Porto,Portugal/, Art Award /Leipzig,Germany/. The artist’s works can be found in private collections in Poland and abroad.
