The 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York – a space of remembrance and reflection, with two massive pools featuring cascading waterfalls at its heart. These pools mark the locations where the Twin Towers once stood. The water flowing into their depths symbolizes emptiness, loss, and mourning for the victims of the attacks. Surrounding the pools are bronze panels engraved with the names of 2,983 victims from the 2001 and 1993 attacks, forming a deeply moving tribute. These pools not only commemorate the destroyed towers but also serve as a metaphor for memory and continuity—open shapes that represent both absence and the lasting presence of remembrance in New York’s landscape and in the hearts of people around the world.
