Rubens’s “Portrait of a Lady” at the exhibition in Warsaw

Peter Paul Rubens’s “Portrait of a Lady” can be seen from Thursday at the pre-auction exhibition at DESA Unicum. The painting was displayed for the last time at an exhibition in Brussels in 1965. The portrait will be available for sale on March 17th. It may become the most expensive-sold work of art in Poland!

The price estimate for the work is about PLN 24 million. The work came from a private collection in London, said Juliusz Windorbski, the CEO of DESA. Recent restoration of the work, as well as technological and stylistic-attribution research confirmed Rubens’ authorship with the participation of his workshop. Before the auction, the painting can be viewed at the DESA Unicum headquarters from February 18 to March 17. Admission to the exhibition is free.
