ART BASEL MIAMI BEACH 2023

The 21st edition of Art Basel Miami Beach ended on December 10. Audiences from all over the world could enjoy top-class contemporary art for three days (December 8-10, 2023). Nearly 300 exhibitors took part in this year’s fair.

Art Basel is one of the most important and largest international art fairs. The project had its beginnings in 1970 in Basel on the initiative of Swiss gallerists Ernst Beyeler, Trudel Bruckner and Balz Hilt. The event takes place every year in Basel, Hong Kong, Miami Beach and from 2022 in Paris. Art Basel Miami Beach had its first edition in 2002. This year’s Art Basel Miami Beach saw sales of works worth up to $20 million.

Hauser & Wirth Gallery sold the most expensive work this year. Philip Guston’s painting Painter at Night (1979) was purchased on the first day by a private collector for $20 million. A Marlene Dumas canvas was sold for $9 million by David Zwirner Gallery.
